Hello

I’m Lori, a storyteller with a fresh perspective on surviving and thriving through grief. I’m also a game creator who helps people talk about death.

LORI LOCICERO:

When we talk about death we become more comfortable and prepared for our final exit. Embracing mortality also allows us to live fuller lives knowing that every moment we have here on this big blue marble is a gift.

After experiencing both devastating grief and joyful post-traumatic growth, I believe the grieving process, along with the pain and difficulties that come along with it, can actually be a catalyst for personal growth.

Take a look around. Read a blog or two. Reach out if something touches you or if you’d like to share your story with me. Grief can be tough. Growth is possible.

My Story

I never imagined I’d become immersed in the topics of death, widowhood, and post-traumatic growth…but sometimes life has gigantic plans for you that you don’t know until they unravel. And sometimes, you unravel with them.

At age 41, I lost my husband Joe; the father of our young children, business partner, and best friend to pancreatic cancer. Just one month prior, my mother died from multiple myeloma. Dropped into an abyss of sadness, I searched for healing and meaning while fighting to keep myself and my family afloat. I write about my journey in my blog Life Revised, and in my memoir (currently in progress), Clouds Far Behind Me, both offering readers an inside look at the excruciating road I traveled through loss and the surprising moments that led to an understanding and appreciation of my trauma and the discovery of post-traumatic growth.

My latest endeavor, The Death Deck, is a card game inspired by a life lesson learned while immersed in loss. When planning my late husband Joe’s “Celebration of Life” event, I realized that even though we were also business partners, and wonderful communicators – we’d never shared details about our final wishes. I learned firsthand how much of an issue it is when you wait until it’s too late. Hoping to help others find a new way to begin these difficult conversations, I co-created an irreverent-yet-important card game that creates a safe and fun space to share thoughts and feelings about death with your spouse, partner, family members, and friends.

I’m a proud UCLA graduate and a Los Angeles based writer and director whose scope of experience spans from television pilots to cookbooks, and celebrated short films to books including “Mind Savvy: The Art of Clear Thinking for Business Success, (rated an Amazon #1 Hot New Release). I’ve collaborated on major productions for Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., and the Food Network (to name a few) and write and direct live stage shows for conferences and gala events. When not speaking, writing, or promoting The Death Deck, I spend time in the ocean, play endless hours of baseball and ping-pong with my two teens, and search the city high and low for the perfect cup of drip coffee.

My hope is that you find valuable insight or stumble upon an “aha” moment of your own reading the pages that follow.

May you find peace along your path.
