The 5 Worst Things Said to Me While Grieving
Someone close to you has just lost a loved one. What should you say? Or rather…what shouldn’t you say. I know these 5 things were well-intended, but while in the thick of grief, they ended up having a rather negative effect on me. Here are the worst 5 things said to my while grieving the loss of my husband.

What if I was told I could change one thing about my life without interfering with the future? Would I have canceled the date? Avoided getting involved with him? Ran? Would I have spared myself the devastating years of pain and grief that would most certainly come from these truths…or stay the course?

Like the NASA protocol, letting family members know ahead of time what and when you would want to know can offer huge peace of mind. Talking about it and writing it down takes the guesswork out of these uncomfortable situations. This practice can also extend to many of the other unmentionable topics we all tend to avoid such as our final wishes and wills.
